According to VC Experts, snapchat could soon be valued at $20 Billion. On May 13, snapchat authorised new shares of 7.3 million which will provide funding of at least $200 Million. According to Tech Crunch, the fundraising will be an extension of the funds snapchat raised from Fidelity which has made the company worth $16 Billion.
The shares when acquired will make snapchat worth $22.7 Billion according to VC Expert, with the assumption that the share price is $30.72 which was the price Fidelity acquired its shares and all authorised shares are issued which is rare according to VC Experts.
Robert Peck an analyst at SunTrust says that the valuation is not overblown by any stretch.”It is following Facebook’s trajectory when you look at the third and fourth year of both companies, Snapchat closely tracks Facebook’s valuation and exceeds its revenue projections. Sourced from CNN
If Snapchat valuation goes beyond $20 Billion, it will make the company one of the most valuable privately owned companies in the world according to CB Insights. Uber is valued at $62.5 Billion, Xiaomi is worth $46 Billion and Airbnb is valued $25.5 Billion. In 2013, Facebook tried to buy snapchat for $3 Billion.
